For Showjumping Competitions Ponies are divided into three height categories - 128cms for Children Under 12 on 1st January, 138cms for Children Under 14 on 1st January and 148 cms for Children Under 16 on 1st January.

Horses can be ridden by Children from the year in which they reach 12 Years - restrictions apply.  

Juniors relate to riders between the ages of 14 and 18 years

Young Riders relate to riders under the age of 21 Year on 1st January

Amateurs are a category of rider who have reached the age of 17 and have not competed at Grand Prix Level or represented Ireland in Eventing or Showjumping in any category other than Amateurs.

RUNNING A SHOW

If a Show cancels another venue can only be authorised by Regional Secretary.

The Connaught Region would urge any new show committees or organisers wo are thinking of running a show to contact our Connaught Regional Secretary Noeleen Kerins who is more than willing to assist.  She will guide you through the process and assist you with initially picking a suitable date in the calendar.
